چکیده

Denomination Magnetism Aided Machining (MAM) comprises a number of relatively new industrial machining (firstly finishing and surface improving) processes being developed at the present time too. MAM is effective – among others – in polishing, deburring and burnishing of metal parts. The authors give a brief outline of these modern processes, and make an attempt to systematize them. The paper summarizes the results of the experimental research work carried out by the authors mainly in field of magnetism-aided abrasive machining and roller burnishing in finishing and deburring operations.

Improving the Surface Quality using Combined Ultrasonic Vibration and Magnetic Abrasive Finishing Method

In this paper, a new non-contact ultrasonic abrasive finishing mechanism is designed and fabricated. This mechanism combines the function of ultrasonic vibrations and the magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) process. A permanent magnet which is mounted on a horn has been used as the processing tool. This polishing tool is vibrated at an ultrasonic frequency with piezo-electric actuators. Ultrasoni...

Design, Manufacturing and Surface quality Analysis of Machining by Self-Rotary Milling Tool

One of the disadvantages of conventional milling tools is to produce a large amount of heat in cutting zone and so making the tool warmer. As a result, the tool would be worn and its life time would be reduced. Therefore, in long time machining, it is essential to change inserts and tools, continiously. A milling tool with self rotary cutting inserts was designed and manufactured that enables i...

Measurement and simulation of magnetic field strenght in the nano magnetic abrasive finishing process

Magnetic abrasive finishing can be classified as a non-traditional super finishing method for finishing surfaces with different shapes and working materials like flat plates, shafts, bearings parts, screws, tubes and many other mechanical parts that need good surface finishing properties. MAF is effective in polishing, cleaning, deburring and burnishing metal parts. The most important parameter...

Investigation of Magnetic Abrasive Finishing on Inner Surface of AL 6061 Tube

In magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF), abrasive grains as a tool move on surface and can remove chip from surface of work piece. In this study AL 6061 tube was considered as the work piece and the effect of finishing parameters such as gap distance between tube and poles, rotational speed of tube, abrasive ration and finishing time on surface roughness was investigated. The mixture of ferromagne...
